30 Amazing Examples of Bokeh Photography

Bokeh photography is something when you focus the subject and there are a lot of lights at the background that blur and gives an amazing bokeh effect. If you are interested in capturing beautiful bokeh photos then following are some of the amazing bokeh photography tips.

Large Aperture

To capture amazing bokeh photos, you aperture should be large which means the f number should be the smallest. Using small f umber will decrease the depth f field for you and will focus perfectly over a particular area of frame. F numbers like f1.8 or f2.8 are considered perfect.

Fast Lens

The more light your camera can let in, the more it can decrease the depth of field. This is why lenses with amazing maximum apertures are used. A telephoto lens (either 55-250mm or 75-300mm) is considered perfect for bokeh or you can also use (50mm) prime lens for this task. Do not use the kit lens i-e (18-55mm) if you want good bokeh photos

Faster Shutter Speed:

Keep the shutter speed faster than 1/50. If you slow it the background lights might start to get blur instead of making small elegant circles. If your picture is getting dark with the fast shutter speed, then instead of slowing it down, the better option is to increase the ISO.

Keep The Subject Close And Background Far:

The close you are to the subject, the better bokeh you will see at the background. With the zoom lens, try to extend it at its longest focal length.

Use Bokeh Filter:

With the help of this easy technique, you can impress your friends. Simply cut the design of bokeh you want on a paper and mount it on your lens like a cap. Light will now burst out in that particular shape. Different shapes can be used for different occasions.

Relate Foreground And Back Ground:

For interesting effects, try relating your foreground with the background. Let’s take an example of a mug which is in focus and imagine bokeh lights emitting from it or someone blowing the bokeh kisses.

Experiment With The Rain:

Clicking the bokeh photos in rain is an amazing thing. The combination of water drops and light look amazing. Try clicking through the glass window with water droplets on it and have lights at the back which would be creating the bokeh.

These are some of the tips to capture bokeh photos. Following are some of the inspiring bokeh photos.
