1. Use Less Images:
It is a very effective tip and its results are very quick. Yes it is true that images increase the look of a page but understand the point for positive use. Stuffing up your pages with images won’t make it fast. Popular websites like Amazon, EBay, Google and Yahoo, loading time is very important so they keep the number of images less. As simplicity is the best policy, keep your blog simple so that everyone can navigate conveniently through it (image via a shutterstock).
2. Optimize Heavy Files:
Flash files and heavy graphics increase the loading time of your website. Well! The solution for this is optimization. In flash or fireworks there are many options to reduce the size of these graphics. Google and Yahoo do consist of images and pages but they are optimized and the website loads really quick (image via shutterstock).
3. Cache it:
PHP caching is a great way to decrease the loading time of your website. PHP cache gives a message to the browser to load your website ones and store the images for later fast browsing. For WordPress, there is a great plugin “WP Super Cache” PHP caching (image via shutterstock).
4. Use Simple Icons:
Adding big images cost you money if you are taking them from some stock image resource. Instead, to make your website colorful add small icons. You can design them yourself or you can buy them as well.
5. Optimize Your Databases Properly:
Poor optimization of databases makes your website slow. If you do not know what optimization of database means, just Google it and you’ll find many ways to optimize or repair it properly (image via shutterstock).
6. Do Not Use Animated Gifs:
The use of animated gifs was considered trendy ten years back. Now, everyone consider them useless and unnecessary. Animations are pretty irritating as well. So, cut down the use of gifs on your website. If conditions are different and you really need to add gif then you can add one or two otherwise please do not add them (image via shutterstock).
7. Use HTML5 For Most Parts:
Try to design most of your website on HTML5. If you think that HTML5 cannot be used for great designs then you are wrong. Add CSS styles, use tables and attractive fonts. Don’t use flash, animations, gifs and big images.
