Michael Knepper Said – The boundary between illustration and painting is not clearly defined, since the final product is always an image that is ultimately to individual interpretation. As an illustrator I provide mostly from themed images.
My paintings, however, are created under a different premise. Here I can work more as an artist-free, spontaneous and creative. I am often asked what I was the real ‘. Illustrator, painter, or just the artist who paints the pictures I do not care: It is ultimately the product of my work, that is the image that is in the foreground.
I am a big fan of Frank Frazetta. His strong, powerful imagery and his style have inspired me greatly and motivated. More role models for me were Renato Casaro with his movie posters, Gottfried Helnwein and his devilish perfection and of course the old masters like Caravaggio and JDDavid.
I am an avid motorcyclist and bought 10 years ago, the Fat Boy Harley Davidson sportster, where I spend a lot of my leisure time and thus most like in Bavaria, in the Hunsrück and the Moselle and Rhine valleys around cruise or as a “newcomer “Hamburger often go to the North and Baltic Sea. So I’ve been on many Harley-Events-Free Willy Run in the Allgäu, Magic Bike Rally in Rüdesheim, etc. on the Hamburg Harley Days in Faak, Lübeck Of course not forgetting the top events in Sturgis and Daytona.
