Today we are going to represent 13 dwarves from Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ with the latest images of the characters. Myself I can’t wait to see this film with so many interesting characters and great quest of home-loving hobbit Bilbo Baggins to win a share of the treasure guarded by the dragon. Same like “The lord of the rings” epic fantasy / advanture movie, The Hobbit is all about the Personal growth and forms of heroism as central themes of the story.
You may remember Gandalf from the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy. Gandalf, played by Ian McKellen, is the wizard who literally plucks Bilbo from his cozy little home and tosses him into a load of adventure.
An exiled king whose people have been scattered across Middle-earth, Thorin (played by ‘Robin Hood’s Richard Armitage) is the leader of the 13 dwarves and aims to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon known as Smaug.
New Zealand TV star Dean O’Gorman is Fili, brother of Kili. Fíli’s most distinguishing feature is his long nose, the longest of any of the Dwarves on the Quest of Erebor.
Aidan Turner of BBC’s ‘Being Human’ plays Fili’s brother Kili. Nephews of Thorin, the brothers are the youngsters of the group. The brothers have the best eyesight so were often sent scouting or searching for stuff. He also seems to be the only dwarf to look like a regular person.
The hobbit of the film’s title is a curious Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who journeys to the Lonely Mountain with the vigorous group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug.
Newcomer Adam Brown is Ori. He usually wears a grey-hooded cloak with a silver belt when travelling abroad. He also plays the flute.
Peter Hambleton is the younger brother of Oin. Glóin is best known for his skills for making a fire. Handy on an epic quest.
John Callen is Oin. Along with his brother Glóin, he is counted on to start the campfires, even though the pair often bicker over the task.
Jed Brophy, who was an orc in ‘The Return Of The King’ and Sharku in ‘The Two Towers’, plays Nori. Brother to the very similarly named Ori and Dori. Nobody quite knows what Nori gets up to most of the time, except that it’s guaranteed to be dodgy and quite probably, illegal.
Mark Hadlow, who had a role in Peter Jackson’s ‘King Kong’, will play Dori. He’s a big fan of food, more than any other hobbit, and was described by the narrative as “a decent fellow, despite his grumbling.” The oldest of the three brothers, he spends most of his time watching out for Ori, the youngest.
Ken Stott plays Dwalin’s older brother Balin. This courageous dwarf is “always the look-out man”.
This tough-looking tattooed dwarf is Dwalin, played by Graham McTavish. Despite his rough demeanour, he’s pretty good on the viol (a 15th century stringed instrument).
Irish actor James Nesbitt (best known for ‘Cold Feet’) plays Bofur. Brother to Bombur and Bifur’s cousin, Bofur enjoys mince-pies and cheese at tea, and is also a dab-hand at the clarinet
Little-known actor Stephen Hunter plays the tubby dwarf Bombur who spends most of the adventure either asleep or is too fat to participate. Poor Bombur.
William Kircher (who looks an awful lot like Alec Baldwin) will star as Bifur, one of the dwarves. The cousin of fellow dwarves Bombur and Bofur, he’s electric on the clarinet and lists raspberry jam and apple tart as his favourite foods.
